Rebuilding the Temple starts with realizing it is in despair….

Story is from The book of Nehemiah found in the Word of God…

The book of Nehemiah speaks of the pain he feels when he heard the news that the temple in Jerusalem was torn down and charred.

Nehemiah prayed to El Shaddai the king of kings that he would Grant the king that he was serving as a cup bearer, that he would change the king’s heart and entice him to be gracious to Nehemiah.

The opportunity did not come up immediately after Nehemiah’s prayer to El Shaddai, it happened months later. Nehemiah was grieving in his soul in front of the king, he had never before been sad in front of the king.  The King was enticed to ask Nehemiah what was troubling him.

After Nehemiah’s prayer, his heart had to get to the point where his depression was evident by those around him. He wore his sorrow for what was happening to the temple he loved so much. He was deeply troubled and the King noticed. Can you imagine where Nehemiah’s heart must have been months after praying to God for intervention.

At the Kings questions, I can imagine Nehemiah’s heart being burst open with the light of God realizing that this was his answer to prayer. Nehemiah gained boldness and strength and not only was granted to go and tend to the temple, he was also granted letters to attain Forest of wood and rock to build back what was torn down.

Nehemiah’s prayer was answered and he set off on a journey to rebuild the Temple.

We all need to be in humility at the way we treat the temple of God. We are now the temple where the Holy Spirit indwells. Through many wars in our life, anguishes and fights and upheavals, droughts within our souls, and all kind of other things our Temple has fallen and has become charred. When Nehemiah learned that the building that held El Shaddai’s spirit was in ruins he was greatly troubled.

Many of us put aside and do not care for our bodies that God entrusted to us. We let our minds go, we let our bodies go, we bring things into our temple of God that do not belong there. We eat things we shouldn’t, we hear things we shouldn’t, we read things we shouldn’t, and we see things we shouldn’t. All of these collapse the walls of the Temple that hold on to the spirit of God. There needs to be a change from the foundation up. But it will not be easy as Nehemiah’s story continues to show.

When Nehemiah got to the Temple grounds, he went off in search by himself and a trusted advisor to take a necessary assessment of where the temple ruins lie. He did not set off during the light of day, he took only the very necessary things he can carry while on his donkey.  He took a look for himself, took note of where the damage is from every angle of the Temple. In order for him to make a plan, he wanted to see for himself where the damage lies.

This is a necessary change for rebuilding the temple of God. And you are the temple of God, you are the holder of the spirit of Yeshua. Rebuilding what was torn down due to our lifestyle, our mindsets, or whatever may have happened to get to where we are, it will take hard work, a commitment, and most importantly a vision and plan to work towards.

As Nehemiah started rebuilding the wall, his brothers and sisters in the family of God worked in the areas near them as well. The vision to rebuild the temple was within all their hearts. Nehemiah had cast vision to rebuild what was torn down and discarded. They worked enthusiastically to rebuild the Temple of God. Yet naysayers, those that oppose you and your purpose, and hostile neighbors came to discourage their rebuilding of the Temple. Not only that, Nehemiah was also struggling with the people helping because they were getting discouraged and tired. The work was hard, the boulders were heavy, and they were naysayers laughing and yelling at them the whole time. How could they finish under these circumstances? Was Nehemiah discouraged? No! Nehemiah was determined to do what God sent him to do.

When we start to make changes in our life due to the realization that the temple of God has been torn down, charred, and lies and ruins, we will face the same obstacles. We will become discouraged, we will become heavy burdened with the task in front of us, we will have naysayers laughing, we will have oposers saying we will never get it done.  And it may even get worse.  But Nehemiah did not give up. He knew the temple of God meant something special. He believed it with his soul. He knew that where God dwelt needed to be taken care of.

Nehemiah faced even worse things while rebuilding the temple. They were hostile neighbors, they were out to kill Nehemiah and anyone trying to rebuild the Temple of God. Nehemiah had to change strategies, he did not give up on his vision, instead, Nehemiah strapped on a weapon, and had his brothers watch his back and each other’s back. The work may have slowed, but it did not stop. Not only that, each neighbor, each brother looked out for each other. Bonds were strengthened, trust was strengthened, and the walls of the temple were rebuilt.

Our temple of God needs to be rebuilt as well. Are you willing to do the necessary work to rebuild the Temple of God? Do you have a brother that is encouraged to help you stay on the vision of rebuilding where the Holy Spirit dwells? Are you willing to put in the hard work, to strap on your sword even, to make sure you do what is necessary no matter what naysayers may say, no matter what troubles may come up against you. Are you willing to make the changes necessary to rebuild the Temple from the ground up?

If you are a believer in Jesus Christ, Yeshua, our Lord and savior then your foundation is set. 1st Corinthians chapter 3 speaks of our foundation. Yeah our walls are surely fallen, yet they are worth rebuilding. Our bodies are the dwelling place of the Spirit of the living God.  It is time we see our bodies as that. We are only vessels here on this footstool to bring glory to our creator, to enjoy our surroundings, to eat to drink to be merry, but all for the glory of God!  Should we defile the temple by bringing ungodly things into where the Holy Spirit dwells?  What you see, hear, eat, do, and anything else that has an effect on what goes in to the temple that God has given you, is placed in front of the throne of God, especially if you are a holder of the Holy Spirit in your heart. If the Holy Spirit dwells within your heart, then everything that goes within you mind body and soul is placed at the altar of God.

God knows each of our hearts, he knows what we hear, what we see, and what we think. God guides our hearts always towards him that we may find him El Shaddai, HE is our Elohim the one that created all things. Through him and by him and for him all things were created.

Rebuilding the temple did not happen overnight. And it was not easy. It was hard and discouraging, it was intentional and it was together that they made this choice. Where God dwells matters. It mattered so much to Nehemiah that it broke his heart. It mattered so much to Nehemiah that he cried out to God to change the situation.

Oh I pray that each of us will get to that change of heart, where are very souls want to make changes that will never give up. The temple of God and where he dwells matters. What goes into our bodies determines what comes out of our bodies. Jesus chose to share that with us. Is common sense, yet it’s not easy.

I pray that we choose what goes into the temple of God is Holy, is good, is pure, is pleasing, is Worthy, and is peaceful, and it can withstand the fire of God’s throne. Because that’s where it sits each time it comes into you and before him.  Let the choices we make today determine the outcome of the temple of God tomorrow.

It is time to start rebuilding the temple of God. It begins with the contrite heart, it begins with a sacrifice knowing of hard work ahead and choosing intentionally to do it. It starts with determining where the brokenness is, to take the time to see the damage before the rebuilding can start. I encourage each of you reading this, to go with a trusted advisor, to look deeply and intently on the damage that was done, but with the purpose is to see it and to rebuild it.

God reveals so he can heal. God will reveal the brokenness, he will reveal where it’s charred, where it’s hurt, where it seems hopeless. But he doesn’t reveal that to you to hurt you, he shows you where the healing needs to happen. Allow the pain to be there, allow the sadness of accountability to happen, and then take the initiative with God as your strength, gather your supplies, join a group of fellow believers willing to rebuild their Temple wall as well.

It is time to rebuild the Temple. You are the temple of God. It starts with understanding and knowing that there is a broken down charred Temple that needs rebuilding. Are you willing to rebuild the wall in front of you for the glory of the church, meaning the bride of Christ?

I am willing, send me. I know the journey will be hard, I know I may become discouraged, I know I may have people against me, but I have God for me. God desires the temple to be rebuilt.  God has purposed in my heart to have a vision to rebuild the Temple of God. It is my desire, to see my brothers and sisters working alongside of me, to rebuild their lives to live holy for God.

To eat, to drink, to be merry in spirit, to enjoy life fully allowing the Holy Spirit to see the world through your eyes, through your ears, through your feet and hands, and through your heart. Give your life fully to God, enjoy his creation in the way the Holy Spirit will guide you to enjoy it. We are in Elohim’s creation after all, there is so much to see and do and taste and eat. Yet it is in moderation, it is beside our brothers and sisters, and it is as a vessel of the Holy Spirit of our Lord and savior Christ Jesus.

It won’t be easy in the journey’s not quick. There are heavy boulders, there are stepping stones and stumbling blocks, there are naysayers and helpers. There will be those for you and those against you, but it is in your mind that you are determined to be a vessel that the Holy Spirit dwells with the walls being rebuilt. May you have blessing and encouragement to rebuild your walls, to rebuild the Temple, and enjoy this life that God has given you to be a vessel for his work on this Earth.
